  • Vladimir Tkachev’s (Oilers) contract was rejected by the NHL. He is still draft eligible next June.
  • Contract talks between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Ryan Johansen are getting serious.
  • Despite the misogyny, the Flyers brought back the ice girls – calling it an “ice team”.
  • Taylor Beck (Predators) signed a one year contract today!
  • Sale of New York Islanders to Jon Ledecky and Scott Malkin was approved today by the Board of Governors.
  • Expansion was (once again) denied by the Board of Governors.
  • Patrick Mullen (Senators) cleared waivers and was assigned to Binghamton.
  • Kaleta & Larsson (Sabres) will both be out for “a little while”.

  • Islanders recalled Andrey Pedan & Adam Pelech from the AHL and have signed Ross Johnston to an ATO.
  • The NHL’s board of governors will be updated on the islanders sale to Jon Ledecky and Scott Malkin today, but approval vote isn’t expected until Dec. – per @reporterchris.
  • Troy Bodie (Leafs) cleared waivers and was assigned to the Marlies.
  • Jordie Benn (Stars) left the game during the 3rd period. He has a bruised “outer extremity” and will be day-to-day.

  • Tyler Seguin (Stars) netted his first hattrick of the season!
  • Jason Pominville (Wild) also netted his first hattrick this year!
  • Cody Eakin signed with the Stars today. 2 years, 1.4M this year (including 10ok signing bonus) & 2.3M next season.
  • If you’ve upgraded to iOS 8, all team apps should be working now!
  • Pasal Dupuis (Penguins) played in his first game since 12/23/13, due to knee injury.
  • Boone Jenner (Blue Jackets) broke his hand yesterday. Unknown on how long he’ll be out.
  • Brad Stuart’s (Avalanche) new contract has a modified NTC. 7 team list.
  • Dany Heatley (Ducks) will be out at least one week with a groin injury.

Arizona at Vancouver for sure.

Player(s) to Watch:

Roman Josi, Ryan Ellis, Filip Forsberg, and Kevin Fiala for the Preds. Forsberg and Fiala are striving to stay with the NHL and will be trying to shine, I would assume. Roman Josi is always fun to watch, and this will be Ryan Ellis’s first game since his contract signing.

Jordan Schroeder will be making his home debut with the Wild, so keep an him. He’s great.

  • David Booth (Leafs) has a bruised foot after blocking a shot in the 1st period.
  • Cody Franson (Leafs) left the game injured – there has been no update.
  • Jeff Carter (Kings) netted his first hattrick of the season.
  • Patrick Kaleta (Sabres) took a puck to the face and did not return to the game. Larsson (Sabres) went down after a hit by Granberg (Leafs) and did not return to the game. Both Kaleta and Larsson will be evaluated in Buffalo tomorrow.
  • Andrew Ference (Oilers) left the game with an injured arm and did not return. Oilers twitter says he should be fine.
  • The Oshawa Generals retired #91 in honor of John Tavares.
  • Jay Beagle (Capitals) left the game with an upper body injury and will be evaluated tomorrow.
  • Brad Richardson is adorable with children.
  • Caps are down to 35 players on their roster.
  • Bruins cut 11 players today.

What I’m Watching:

Chicago and Edmonton games are always fun – though without Sam Gagner on the Oilers, I don’t know if they’ll be quite as good as they use to be. He always seemed to shine against the Blackhawks. I will, once again, not be home in time for any of the games. Silly work.

Player(s) to Watch:

Dealer’s choice. Everyone is either trying to prove themselves to make the final cut before the regular season starts or trying not to get hurt before the regular season starts.

  • Coyotes assigned a bunch to the AHL. And released a few.
  • Jaden Schwartz re-signed with the Blues for 2 years, 2.35 AAV
  • Sharks reassigned three to Worcester Sharks.
  • Dubinsky (Blue Jackets) was slightly injured in today’s game – nothing serious according to Coach Richards
  • Lightning did some reassigning.
  • Predators did some moving around as well. Including my favorite, Brendan Leipsic 😦
  • Beau Bennett (Penguins) will miss six weeks with injury.
  • Paul Stastny scored his first goal in a Blues’ jersey.
  • Stephane Robidas (Maple Leafs) was cleared for contact after recovering from a broken leg, but will not play in tomorrow’s game.
